inconsistent sizing

Absolutely love these pants bottom from Dillard's then I saw they were on sale from volcom but they were out of my size so I bought the same pair I bought from Dillard's from Macy's and they're completely a size smaller even though the tag says the same size. Maybe Macy's gets worse quality batches of the same clothes?
