Spacious
Am happy with the many pockets and organization. Size is larger than expected (good!) The backpack is comfortable to carry with good weight distribution. Wish there was one more hidden pocket not visible/accessible when worn as backpack.

Very well made!
It's a very well thought out piece of kit! I use it to hold a small camera case in the bottom and everything else I need in the top.

This bag WILL hold the Mother Lode!
There are so many pockets, I'm going to need to buy more stuff to fill this bag! Love the separated main compartment for clothes and the top zippered area for easy access to passport, wallet, headphones, etc.

Truly the best, and I've used so many others.
This is my third of these bags, and they were only replace because a puppy and later supposedly mature dog is obsessed with my travel gear and kept chewing and breaking zippers. It holds everything I need for travel or for a tech support visit to a friend or client. Great organization and seperation of functions. Used them for years (before the puppy) and they were never even close to worn out. I want everybody to love them so that samsonite never retires this model. I have been a backpack lover/nerd for about 40 years. Tumi's and other medium or high-end bags of every sort, but this one wins for sure. When I needed to replacement and looked at every bag out there, I still came back to the mother lode. I use it nearly 100% with the backpack straps out, but they are easily tucked away in the very back compartment to have more off a "workbag" look. fits under seat when loaded but I usually grab a few things for the flight and stow in overhead. If I had one wish, its that they would add a better way to strap it to the handle of your roller suitcase. There is presently no strap but there is a strap to buckle the backpack straps in front, on your chest, which I never use. I keep improvising ways to do this, but it would have ZERO missing things if it had a good "slideover" strap so when you are wheeling your sutcase by the handle with the back on top it would be secure and not in danger of tipping over.

Mother Lode is the real deal
Wow, we are amazed how much you can fit in this backpack. I compared it with a carryon and was able to fit exactly the same amount of clothing in both!

Compression Straps Poor Quality
I’ve used this for one domestic and one international trip in the last 6 months and a compression strap already ripped at the seam. Now I have to decide if I pay to ship it in to be evaluated or just cut the other side. Otherwise love the bag but not loving the annoyance of it already tearing and the work I have to do to get it repaired.

Great backpack. Just as nice as the Silhouette 17
I was looking for the Silhouette 17 and came across this bag. This backpack is just as roomy as the 17 Silhouette. I am very happy with this purchase.
