The dual-tone finish is deliberate, letting the box pass as furniture instead of a plastic bin parked on the boards.Assembly takes no tools, so it is holding cushions the same afternoon it arrives. The flat lid is solid enough to act as a side table when guests are over, and it accepts a padlock, sold separately, if the box lives somewhere that needs securing.
