An All-Around Knock Out of the Park
I have owned the JBL Xtreme 5 for a few weeks now, and I have definitely maintained or even grown my appreciation for what it offers overtime. For me what helps the most is definitely the shoulder strap. The speakers is like the perfect weight to carry around where it can both hold you down if a road gets bumpy but not weight you down when trying to cycle uphill. The bass response is insane overall for a portable and I basically never it get tired of it. The mids are distinct and the trebles are crisp, providing a wide and distinct punchy sound. As for the volume, I basically never have to push it to max, and when I do, I won’t be very close to the speaker at all. It’s 130W AC power mode is also a highlight for me. It allows the speaker to reach its true potential when plugged in to a wall source, or if you’re like me, a battery pack with AC outlets. The JBL Portable app has improved majorly in responsiveness and connectivity since the JBL Charge 5, and the light and EQ effects work reliably and provide lots of versatility in terms of options. Bluetooth reliability has also increased greatly from previous models with Bluetooth 6.0 and a more reliable multipoint connection. The build quality is unmistakable, but I do wish there was a way to do Lossless and the AC Mains power mode at the same time, but they can’t be pushed out of the same USB-C port even with dongles attached. Overall, whether upgrading from an older Xtreme model or Charge model, this slam dunk of a speaker will provide you with all the features you need and then some.

For Bass Lovers
Loving it so far. I have the smaller JBL5, it didn't give me as much bass as I wanted. I bought the extreme 5 and have zero regret. Plays loud and clear, and delivers the on low end that my smaller 5 is missing. Battery life is excellent. My only gripe is you cannot link two different models together with the app. My parents also have the same smaller 5 that I have. I've linked mine with theirs into stereo with the app. Two of those together sound really good, and almost deliver enough bass for my taste. If you want the maximum amount of bass from JBL portable line. Get the extreme 5, or two!

The top of the line!
I have had this speaker for three weeks I think. It is a replacement for the original JBL extreme with a bad battery. This speaker is light years ahead of the old one. The clarity is exceptional and I love that I can personalize my equalizer settings. The bass is awesome even at top volume. I like it so much that when they go on sale I’m buying another identical to this one to set up for stereo performance.

Amazing speaker
I bought the JBL Xtreme 5 expecting a louder Bluetooth speaker, but after testing it extensively, I can honestly say this is one of the best portable speakers JBL has made. The sound is powerful, the bass is deep without being muddy, and unlike some competitors, it keeps its energy and impact at higher volumes. This speaker feels like it was built for garages, backyards, cookouts, detailing jobs, and anywhere you actually need real volume. I stream TIDAL at maximum quality and tested multiple EQ configurations. Out of the box the sound is already impressive, but with a few adjustments it becomes even better. Vocals remain clear, guitars and instruments cut through well, and the bass stays strong. One thing I would like JBL to improve is the USB-C lossless audio implementation. I tested with a Galaxy S25 Ultra, a Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra, multiple USB-C cables including high-speed USB4 cables, different USB host settings, and both Android and Windows. The feature was not as straightforward as expected. The hardware is excellent, but JBL could make the USB audio experience much more user-friendly with clearer instructions and broader device compatibility. Overall, the Xtreme 5 is a fantastic speaker. The sound quality, output, battery life, durability, and wall-powered performance are all excellent. The only reason I'm not calling it perfect is because the USB-C lossless feature needs refinement. If JBL improves the USB audio compatibility in a future firmware update, this speaker would be very close to ideal.

Lasts forever, packs a punch
This is my new favorite speaker. I love having the shoulder strap. I have never had this on a speaker before and I like it much more than I expected. One less thing to carry and I do not have to compromise on sound. The battery life is impressive. I took this out for a weekend and never had to recharge it despite falling asleep with it on overnight. It feels very sturdy like most JBL speakers do. I appreciate the build quality. Sound quality and bass in particular is far superior to speakers that fit in a bag. If you have not upgraded your portable in a while this likely outperforms much larger options as well. The LED lighting is cool, but I would prefer to turn it off. I doubt it affects battery life at all, but every percent counts. The app pairing is mandatory. EQ presets make a big difference if you’re switching between EDM, Podcasts/Audiobooks, and other less bass heavy styles of music. Overall great product. I love this thing!

Great sound with battery life.
The speaker is really well made with rubber bottom and stylish lighting. The battery last a really long time and it's strap is great for carrying it anywhere you want to take it.

Loud, durable speaker with strong performance.
The JBL Xtreme 5 is a powerful portable speaker built for everyday use. It feels very durable with a rugged body that can handle outdoor conditions.. The sound performance is loud, clear and rich with deep bass that fills medium to large spaces easily. The battery life is strong and charging is fast and convenient. The large size helps deliver awesome sound quality and volume.

To big peaks at 55Hz and 13KHz
To big peaks at 55HZ and 13KHz that are not possible to eq down since the upper and lower sliders are shelf slider making it impossible to get a sound you like. Please update the firmware and app so it is possible to eq the 55HZ and 13KHZ extreme peaks separatebly because not everyone likes them.
