Any loose coffee grounds can be used not compatible with K-cup pods. When you want a full pot, the carafe side brews up to 12 cups with ground coffee and gives you the option to program your coffee in advance for wake-up ready coffee. The Hamilton Beach 2-way programmable coffee maker includes a 12 cup glass carafe and single-serve mesh scoop to easily measure and fill ground coffee. The Hamilton Beach 2-way programmable coffee maker is not compatible with K-cup pods. Travel mugs and cups are not included.

Wonderful machine

I purchased a couple weeks ago and so far, it is an excellent coffee maker. I have used both single cup and full pot brewing. Both make a good cup of coffee. the bold brewing function is slower as you would expect but add deeper flavor. I have not used the auto brew function. So far this machine delivers on everything that a more expensive one would.

Perfect for dual drinkers!

.My husband and I drink different coffees; decaf/ caffeine. Having both options in one coffee maker, plus, programmable, is ideal. Mine is ready and his takes a couple minutes with the press of a button! I've had the same one prior to this for over five years and it was looking alittle" rough". It was actually hard to find this one in the stores.LOVE!

Bye-bye K cups!

Coffeemaker works great after using twice a day (carafe and single side) for the past couple of weeks. The carafe side is easy to use and surprisingly the carafe does not drip when pouring a cup. The single side is easy as well but finding just the right mix of coffee grounds to water is a work in progress. We are thrilled to eliminate K cups from our shopping list as well as eliminating all the microplastics from the cups. We would highly recommend this coffee maker.
