wool material that sheds horribly

It is wool and sheds all over. My kids can’t sit on the rug or even walk on it. All our socks are full of the material that’s shedding. It resembles dog hair so it’s hard to get off. Our rug is in a high traffic area in our living room so it’s impossible to not walk on it.
