Product Details

  • Persephone is the Goddess of Spring by title only. The truth is, since she was a little girl, flowers have shriveled at her touch. After moving to New Athens, she hopes to lead an unassuming life disguised as a mortal journalist. Hades, God of the Dead, has built a gambling empire in the mortal world and his favorite bets are rumored to be impossible. After a chance encounter with Hades, Persephone finds herself in a contract with the God of the Dead and the terms are impossible: Persephone must create life in the Underworld or lose her freedom forever. The bet does more than expose Persephone's failure as a goddess, however. As she struggles to sow the seeds of her freedom, love for the God of the Dead grows-and it's forbidden.

Modernized Hades and Persephone

What I Did Like: +This sort of modernized version is so great! I loved how it felt accurate for a myth and yet still also valid today. Easy to imagine versions of this playing out now. +The main characters had good chemistry, for sure. The humanized scene in the kitchen was specifically adorable. As a romance, so cute. +This version had a bonus scene and a from Hades perspective scene that are well done and add to the story. I would recommend that version. Who Should Read This One: -Romance fans who like spice but not necessarily dark. -People who like the idea of Ancient Greek legends but maybe aren’t die hard fans, some inconsistencies would bother such fans.

Great retelling!

This retelling was amazing! Was it a masterpiece, life changing book? No. But was it entertaining, fun and easy to read? Absolutely. Persephone was annoying sometimes, but HADES🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 chefs kiss. Unsure what book two is about as this one seemed like a complete book on its own, but I will continue the series, alternating with Hade’s POV books

Literally read it in 8 hours

No book is perfect, but this was fun and I'm glad I bought the first 3 books in one shopping trip. I've always LOVED Hades and Persephone, this is a cute, 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and modern retelling of their love.

Hades & Persephone but make it spicy

A Touch of Darkness is a BookTok cult fav for a reason! It's a solid billionaire/elite society romance, with heavy spice, a dark and broody MMC, and a sassy FMC with an incredibly overbearing mother. I needed a palette cleanser between some more intense books, and this one didn't disappoint.. although I hope the next books in the series feature more diversity.

Great start to an exciting retelling

In this book we get a beautiful retelling of the story of hades and Persephone. We also get to see a sheltered Persephone break from her shell and decide what she herself wants out of life instead of what her mother wants for her. This book was great and I’m planning to read this series in tandem with the hades saga so I can get both sides of the story as it unfolds!!

A fun read

Persephone's behavior is very rash and doesn't always make sense. A lot of times her behavior, despite being unrealistic, is used to drive the plot forward. Additionally, the author crams in a lot of mini plots to create more problems and tension even though it is not necessary. The concept of the world is interesting though and the chemistry between Hades and Persephone is great. Overall, an enjoyable read, that made me excited to read the story from Hades's point of view. Additionally, despite being the beginning of a series, the author manages to write the story completely without leaving people disappointed with the ending.

Recommend !!

This book was essentially my introduction into the Greek mythology world. I absolutely loved it! I will say I found Persephone can be a bit frustrating at times but it’s tolerable bc the author does a good job at explaining where it stems from in terms of her upbringing (and age)…. Also I’m an absolute sucker for the steaminess of it throughout! Definitely left me wanting more

Go get this book !

The impulse to whisk her away to the underworld was strong, like a spell. He had never thought himself so weak, but his restraint was a thing;frayed thread . 5/5⭐ 4/5🌶️ . A beautiful modern retelling about hades and persephone. Showing the godes of spring in the human world lured into an agreement with the lord of the dead . What i loved: The cover/sides/graphics: Look at the book, i have a limited edition with stencils on the side Its gorgeous ! Its dark, its romance it's perfect The writing style: The book is so easy to read so easy to get lost in and so easy to love I finished it in 2 days reading on the train, in bed when i should have been sleeping, Flipping page after page The story: I love the world she built, the illusions in the underworld, the well written characters Ok Persephone could have made smarter choices and not let herself be pushed around so much but it is relatable. What is already a big achievement as I usually don't really relate to the goddess of spring 😉 And the spice... It is perfect the tension builds, there is a curiosity there is love, ... What i didn't love: My book ending ? But luckily for me i have the next one waiting 😁 So go get this book read it now !!!!!
